The representative of the King of Bahrain and the kingdom's national security adviser, Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, quoted the poet Alexander Pushkin during a speech at the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025).

During his speech, he stressed that the Russian Federation is strengthening economic ties with a large number of countries, which makes a great contribution to the formation of new trade and economic opportunities in the world.

"This poem says: "And for a long time I will be so kind to the people that I have awakened good feelings with a lyre." So, this is a wise policy, similar to Pushkin's words. This is your policy towards the people. This policy is not measured only by numbers," the sheikh said, addressing Russian President Vladimir Putin.

On the same day, Putin noted that the indicators of mutual trade between Russia and Bahrain increased by 15% in the first quarter, and joint investments were directed to more than 30 projects. In response, the representative of Bahrain expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and stressed that it was a great honor for him to represent the King in St. Petersburg, which he called a wonderful and hospitable city.
