The Superjet aircraft made its first long flight powered by Russian engines

A fully import-substituted Superjet (SSJ-100) made its first flight using Russian PD-8 engines from Komsomolsk-on-Amur to Zhukovsky near Moscow. This was announced on June 21 by the press service of the United Engine Corporation (UEC, part of Rostec State Corporation).

"This is the first long-term flight using Russian PD—8 engines manufactured by UEC," the Telegram channel said.

It is specified that the aircraft, named after the first Chief Designer of the SSJ-100 Yuri Ivashechkin, flew through the air 6 thousand km with intermediate landings in Irkutsk and Novosibirsk. The flight duration was about nine hours, and the altitude was up to 12 thousand meters.

The press service noted that the aircraft was piloted by a crew consisting of test pilots Dmitry Demenev, Alexander Verkhov, Igor Grevtsev and the lead flight test engineer, flight operator Maxim Gryukanov.

"The flight was performed according to a standard profile, similar to the basic aircraft, all on-board systems worked without any comments. Following the flight assignment, we successfully completed landings at two major airports, which indicates a high degree of readiness of this machine," the press service quoted Demenev as saying.

It was noted that all imported aircraft systems have been replaced in the airliner, including main and auxiliary power plants, avionics, landing gear, integrated control system, power supply, air conditioning and fire protection systems.

The Rostec press service announced on March 17 that the first flight of a Superjet with domestic PD-8 engines. The plane was in the air for about 40 minutes, reached a speed of 500 km / h and an altitude of up to 3 thousand meters.
