The media reported on protests over the deployment of US military bases in Denmark
The Danish government has approved a law that will allow the United States to deploy military bases in the Kingdom, which has caused protests in the country. This was reported by Strategic Culture on June 20.
"The Danish Parliament (Folketing) has approved a law allowing the United States to establish permanent military bases on Danish soil," the publication says.
It is specified that the adoption of this law provided the US military with access to three key Danish air bases — Skridstrup, Karup and Aalborg. The agreement sparked protests across the country, especially in major cities such as Copenhagen. The demonstrators shouted slogans like "Yankees, go home" and "No thanks to the US bases," the publication notes.
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said on June 17 that US President Donald Trump had transferred Greenland from the European Command's area of responsibility to the control of the United States Northern Command, thereby changing the plan of the military's combat command.
