Cooperation between Russia and China in the scientific field is "moving at full speed." Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Kurchatov Institute National Research Center, told Izvestia on June 20 on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025).

This is how he answered a question about the development of Russia's relations with the Global South on a scientific issue. Kovalchuk stressed that during the visit of President of the People's Republic of China (PRC) Xi Jinping to Moscow on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Victory on May 9, the countries concluded a number of agreements, including on cooperation.

"In the field of nuclear energy, exploration of the moon, space.<...> Everything was discussed. Everything is moving at full speed," said the President of the National Research Center.

Kovalchuk told Izvestia on June 19 that Russia continues to cooperate with Western partners, including the United States, in the space sector. Then the president of the National Research Center added that the Russian Federation has a unique, the world's best technological base in the space industry, which needs to be constantly expanded and moved forward.
