The West does not seek to focus on Israeli strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities and is discussing other things. This was stated to the Izvestia correspondent on June 20 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025).

"We see how the state alone strikes at nuclear facilities, I say again, where [nuclear] materials are located. And at the same time, the Western media delicately focuses on completely different things: on the number of strikes, on the escalation itself, but they don't look at the essence of what is happening, which they were talking about now, and it seems to me that this is really the most important topic," she stressed.

According to Zakharova, the statement by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that Iran has no signs of worrying Israel proves the unprovoked nature of Tel Aviv's aggression.

At the same time, a year ago, the West accused Russia of information and political escalation around the topic of nuclear weapons, she stressed.

Earlier in the day, Zakharova said that the Europeans should pursue real diplomacy instead of constant machinations around the situation with Iran. She commented on reports that Iran and Europe will hold talks in Geneva on nuclear issues and the conflict in the Middle East region.

Prior to that, on June 14, the IAEA reported that no damage had been found at the Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordo, Khondaba and Natanz after the Israeli attack.
