In the coming weekend, from June 20 to June 22, the State Traffic Inspectorate will conduct massive and continuous checks of drivers, special attention will be paid to identifying motorists driving while intoxicated. The upcoming raids were announced by the regional departments of the department.

Traffic police will carry out preventive measures on roads in the Republics of Altai and Karelia, as well as on highways in the Ryazan, Kirov, Ivanovo, Samara regions and other regions of the country.

On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate reminds drivers of cars and motor vehicles about the inadmissibility of driving while intoxicated. Preventive measures and "continuous" checks on Russian roads to identify drivers who risk driving after drinking alcohol are regularly carried out by traffic police on weekends.

"Driving under the influence of alcohol endangers the lives of not only the driver himself, who got behind the wheel in a state of intoxication, but also his passengers, as well as other road users. We ask citizens not to remain indifferent to the problem of drunkenness at the wheel and promptly inform the police about drivers who behave inappropriately on the road or drive drunk. Employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate are ready to take all necessary operational measures to respond to such reports," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

He recalled that driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as refusing a medical examination, entails the deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years and a heavy fine. In addition, in some cases, the driver faces criminal liability for these acts.

Earlier, on June 18, in the Irkutsk region, traffic police officers were forced to catch up with an intoxicated driver on foot. During the pursuit, the offender abandoned his vehicle and tried to escape from the police by running, but the traffic police inspectors caught up with him.
