After the G7 summit, the United States is not ready to support tougher sanctions against Russia due to rising oil prices. This was reported by Bloomberg on June 20, citing sources.

"After the G7 summit, it became clear that the United States was not ready to support tougher anti—Russian sanctions," the publication says.

It is noted that the European Union (EU) has postponed a plan for stricter price restrictions on Russian oil exports due to concerns that the United States will not support stricter restrictions. At the same time, the EU proposed lowering the ceiling to $45 per barrel from the current figure of $60.

According to the agency, a low ceiling on oil prices can only work if the American side accepts this initiative.

The Politico newspaper reported on June 17 that the American leader Donald Trump opposes the EU's desire to lower the ceiling on prices for Russian oil. According to Maria Shagina, an expert on sanctions at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, the unification plan will not be effective without the support of the United States.
