The introduction of artificial intelligence surveillance systems has dramatically reduced the number of offenses in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Last year, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that a video surveillance system with facial recognition and other artificial intelligence-based services "have significantly improved the comfort and safety of daily trips around the city."

He also noted that thanks to the use of a video surveillance system for urban space, recording traffic violations in the city, the number of fatal traffic accidents, carjackings, robberies, and other crimes has decreased several times.
