- Zakharova stated the need for the EU to learn diplomacy from the example of the work of the IAEA

The Europeans should pursue real diplomacy instead of constant machinations around the situation with Iran. This was stated to the Izvestia correspondent by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025).
She commented on reports that Iran and Europe will hold talks in Geneva on nuclear issues and the conflict in the Middle East region.
"This is some kind of megaphone rabid rhetoric. And if they want to engage in diplomacy, they have all the possibilities for this, for example, at the IAEA site. Instead of engaging in endless machinations and turning another international organization into a tool for implementing opportunistic ideas, we should engage in real diplomacy," she stressed, answering the question of what to expect from the Europeans at the meeting.
According to Zakharova, the EU should familiarize itself with international law, read the provisions on the IAEA and, on this basis, help countries find common ground.
"Yes, this is a high task, it is not an easy task, but if we talk about diplomacy, this is what needs to be done. This is what Russia is doing. He conducts contacts and works at the IAEA site and at the United Nations in general. Let them watch and learn," she concluded.
Earlier, on June 20, it was reported that Iran launched a missile attack on Israel. The information was also confirmed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), which announced the launch of missiles from the Iranian side.
