The State Duma expressed expectations from new negotiations with Ukraine


New negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul will allow us to continue moving towards a peaceful settlement and agree on new prisoner exchanges. This opinion was expressed by State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova on Friday, June 20.
"The process of a peace agreement or even an armistice is very difficult from a legal point of view. In addition, we have a number of mutual claims, because of which Ukraine is blocking all our peace proposals and agreements. And the legal purity here must be absolute. So we are moving step by step," the politician explained in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .
She added that a new prisoner exchange agreement would be an important achievement for the families on both sides.
"Exchanges are something that can be done here and right away. We understand that people really want to see their loved ones as soon as possible. So from a human point of view, such negotiations are very correct," the parliamentarian stressed.
On June 19, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the topic of the third round of negotiations with Ukraine could be the continuation of humanitarian exchanges, including prisoners, IA Regnum reports.
