- Ex-assistant to the deputy of the Rada was convicted in absentia for the attack on the Russian Embassy

A court in Moscow has sentenced a Ukrainian citizen, Tatiana Bliznyuk, to 13 years in a general regime penal colony in absentia in the case of public calls for terrorist activities and the attack on the Russian Embassy in Kiev. This was announced on June 20 by the Moscow prosecutor's office.
Bliznyuk was previously an assistant to Verkhovna Rada deputy Igor Mosiychuk (listed as a terrorist and extremist in the Russian Federation).
The 56-year-old defendant was found guilty under Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public calls to carry out terrorist activities using information and telecommunication networks") and Part 2 of Article 360 of the Criminal Code ("Attack on the office premises of persons enjoying international protection").
"The court also deprived her of the right to engage in activities related to the posting of information, the administration of websites and channels, using electronic or information and communication networks for a period of four years," the prosecutor's office said in a Telegram channel.
According to the investigation, the woman and her accomplices (their criminal case has been separated into separate proceedings) attacked the offices of internationally protected persons in Kiev in March 2016 "in order to complicate international relations, causing material damage." In February 2018, she posted a video on the Internet calling for attacks on the offices of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Kiev, which are under international protection.
In relation to Bliznyuk, who is on the international wanted list, a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen in absentia. The claim for damages has been fully satisfied.
In March 2016, several bottles of Molotov cocktails were thrown on the territory of the Russian Embassy in Kiev. Fortunately, there was no fire. In those days, Russian embassies and consulates in Ukraine were repeatedly attacked in connection with the case of pilot Nadezhda Savchenko, who was accused in Russia of involvement in the murder of VGTRK journalists.
