The production of solar panels for spacecraft has been launched in Moscow. This was announced by Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, calling this event "another step towards Russia's technological leadership in the space industry."

The new production line was created by the Russian aerospace company, which is a resident of the Technopolis Moscow special economic zone. In five years, the company "has gone from a research project to successful testing of key technologies for a low-orbit satellite communications constellation," the mayor noted in his Telegram channel.

The main high-tech complex for creating a low-orbit satellite communications constellation is located in Moscow. At the Pechatniki site, the company will have a full cycle of production of solar panels — from the formation of a photogenerating layer to the manufacture of frames, deployment systems and control units.

According to the mayor, in addition to the new production line, the company has "centers for the development, design, testing and production of space system components, as well as a Mission Control Center for its own low-orbit constellation of satellites."

According to Sobyanin, terminals for inter-satellite laser communication "Space-Space" and components of radio communication "Earth-Space-Earth" are already being developed and manufactured in Moscow. In addition, the production of communication devices, solar panels and spacecraft propulsion systems has been established.

In May, Sergei Sobyanin announced that it was planned to create over 90,000 jobs in the Technopolis Moscow SEZ by 2030. According to him, the area of the industrial infrastructure of the SEZ will increase 3.5 times and reach 5.7 million square meters.

Currently, over 220 high-tech enterprises operate on the territory of Technopolis Moscow. More than half of them are residents who have access to tax and customs preferences.
