The authorities of the Baltic States, Scandinavia and Poland have decided to close entry to the Schengen area to Russians who took part in a special military operation in Ukraine. This was reported on June 20 by the ERR portal.

"The Ministers of Internal Affairs of the Baltic States, the Nordic countries and Poland <...> have approved a joint decision banning Russian citizens who participated in the <conflict> against Ukraine from entering the Schengen area," the article says.

Estonian Interior Minister Igor Taro also added that this group of Russian citizens would not be able to travel freely in the Schengen area. Countries simply won't give them visas.

In addition, according to the portal, these restrictions will remain in force after the end of the free.

On May 25, Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braje announced that the country was calling on EU countries to suspend the issuance of visas to Russian citizens. According to her, the number of Schengen visas issued to Russian citizens in 2024 increased by 25% compared to 2023.
