Football player Quincy Promes was extradited from the UAE to the Netherlands

Quincy Promes, a former football player of the Spartak Moscow club, was extradited from the UAE to the Netherlands. This was reported on June 20 by the newspaper De Telegraaf, citing sources.

"The football player, who was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison, was extradited to Dubai on Friday and taken by plane," the newspaper writes.

It is specified that the athlete will be placed in a pre-trial detention center, where he will serve his sentence for stabbing his cousin and participating in cocaine smuggling.

Promes played for Spartak from 2014 to 2018, later returned to the football club in 2021 and played in its composition until 2024.

On March 7, 2024, two criminal cases were initiated in the Netherlands against a football player. He was sentenced in absentia to 18 months in prison for stabbing his cousin. In the second case, he was involved in the importation of more than a ton of cocaine through the port of the Belgian city of Antwerp, a court in Amsterdam sentenced the athlete in absentia to six years in prison, the Newspaper recalls.On March 1, the kingdom's authorities began discussions with the UAE authorities on Promes' extradition.

On June 12 of this year, Promes was arrested in Dubai at his home. Then he was taken to a temporary detention center.
