The robotics laboratory of China's National University of Defense Technology (NUDT) has developed a mosquito-sized drone (UAV) for covert military operations, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported on June 20.

It clarifies that miniature bionic robots are particularly suitable for information intelligence and special missions on the battlefield.

"The UAV has two tiny leaf—shaped wings attached to the sides of the wand-shaped body, as well as three hair-thin "legs," the material clarifies.

The article emphasizes that the tiny size of the drone makes production very difficult: sensors, power devices, control circuits and other elements must fit in a very small space, "which requires collaboration between the design of microscopic devices, materials science and bionics."

"Small drones are used by soldiers to safely explore their surroundings: using a built—in camera and sensors, the microdron transmits signals," the publication added.

On June 12, it was reported that the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) had certified and allowed the world's largest amphibious aircraft, the AG600, manufactured in China, to be mass-produced. It was clarified that the State Aviation Industry Corporation of China (Avic) was responsible for the development of the aircraft.
