In Kiev, a former soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) set fire to five cars, one of which belonged to the hero of Ukraine. This was announced on June 20 by the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Ukrainian capital.

"The 33-year—old defendant set fire to five cars, one of which belonged to the Hero of Ukraine," the Telegram channel says.

The department added that police officers managed to detain the attacker.

In addition, "Country.ua" clarified that the man came from Crimea, after which he was mobilized, but after a while he committed an unauthorized abandonment of the unit.

On June 7, it became known that in Ukraine, in the first five months of 2025, 90.5 thousand criminal proceedings were registered under articles 407 and 408 of the Criminal Code for unauthorized abandonment of a unit. It was noted that practically no one was looking for deserters, despite statements by the Kiev authorities about pardons for those who returned to their units after going awol.
