The high air temperature in summer obliges Russian motorists to carefully monitor the technical condition of the car. Andrey Kochnev, Head of Alfa-Leasing's motor transport department, told Izvestia on June 22 how to prepare a vehicle for operation at high temperatures.

According to him, before the start of summer, it is necessary to diagnose the cooling system, check the coolant level and radiator condition. This will help to avoid overheating of the engine. It is also worth checking the operation of the air conditioner and replacing the filters.

In addition, it is important not to forget about tires: replacing winter tires with summer tires and pressure control will help prevent premature wear. At the beginning of the season, it is recommended to replace the brake fluid and engine oil to maintain optimal vehicle performance.

"Under the influence of sunlight, the paintwork ages quickly, losing its luster and durability. Therefore, it is advisable to cover the body with protective agents, such as polymer compounds or liquid ceramics," the expert noted.

Kochnev noted that it is equally important to check the battery to avoid overheating and failure in the heat. Also, before long-distance trips, it is worth making sure that all lighting lamps are in good working order and that the headlights are set correctly for road safety.

"Last year, Russians made more than 25 million trips by car, and I think this year the figure will grow several times. To ensure that all trips during the summer season are safe, do not neglect checking all car components, including wiper blades, which can literally save lives in bad weather," the source concluded.

On May 23, the head of Rolf Avtogarant, Alexey Kryukov, warned that in summer the temperature in the car in direct sunlight can reach + 70 degrees. According to him, in this regard, it is unsafe to leave chargers, phones and other equipment in the car. Due to the heat, flash drives and memory cards may suffer (losing data), electronic keys (buggy), headphones and small accessories (deformed), as well as polarizing glasses (lenses may deteriorate).
