The media pointed to Europe's desire to delay attacks on Iran by the United States.

Europe is seeking to delay attacks on Iranian territory by the United States. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on June 20.
According to media reports, American President Donald Trump is ready to order strikes on the underground nuclear facilities of the Islamic Republic, and Israel, in turn, is pushing Washington to take these actions. The publication recalled that on June 20, emergency talks between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and colleagues from the Eurotroika countries — Germany, France and the United Kingdom — and the head of diplomacy of the European Union (EU), Kai Kallas, are due to take place.
"This rush is part of a desperate effort by European governments to find a diplomatic way out of the week-long war between Israel and Iran before America turns it into something they fear could get much bigger and worse," the article says.
According to the publication, European officials hope to give Trump the opportunity to change his decision on military action. An unnamed European diplomat noted that something is holding the US president back at the moment. At the same time, he urged not to underestimate how much the head of state hates war.
Other officials and diplomats in the Eurotroika countries fear that if the United States intervenes, the conflict could escalate into a full-scale regional war. One of the anonymous officials stressed that any negotiations on June 20 are unlikely to lead to a final result.
Araqchi announced talks with the foreign Ministers of the Verotroika and Callas countries on June 19.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on June 14 that Eurotroika had not participated in Israel's military operation against Iran. The politician noted that the European countries are seriously concerned about the situation in the Middle East, although they have long talked about concerns about the Iranian nuclear program.
