More than 2 thousand dangerous flowers were destroyed in the Pskov region

A batch of infected Colombian chrysanthemums and Kenyan carnations was found in a warehouse in the Pskov region. Insect larvae were found in the flowers, similar in morphological features to a dangerous quarantine facility, the press service of the North-Western Interregional Rosselkhoznadzor Administration reports.

Quarantine phytosanitary control of the cargo was carried out by employees of the department. Laboratory examination confirmed the contamination of the products with Western flower thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis Perg.). The pest is included in the Unified List of quarantine facilities of the EAEU.

A dangerous parasite was also found in a batch of chrysanthemums from the Netherlands. The presence of the causative agent of chrysanthemum white rust (Puccinia horiana Henn.) was detected in the flowers.

All flowers in the amount of 2010 pieces are subject to destruction in accordance with Russian legislation, the Pskov news feed writes.
