Russia intends to continue contacts with the United States on the situation between Iran and Israel. This was announced on Friday, June 20, by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov at the session "Russia and the Arab World — New Decision-making centers on the World Stage" at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025).

"The situation is really very dangerous, as strikes are also being carried out against Iran's nuclear and energy facilities. Radiation leakage may occur, of course, which does not know interstate borders. And this, of course, is very dangerous for neighboring countries, especially the [Persian] Gulf countries <...> This, of course, poses a danger to all of us. And in this regard, we will continue these contacts, including with the US leadership," Bogdanov said.

The Deputy Foreign Minister said that it is necessary to localize the conflict and try to do everything to calm the situation. According to him, this is exactly what Russian foreign policy in the Middle East is aimed at.

Bogdanov also noted that the conflict between Iran and Israel is of a hybrid nature and includes not only military operations, but also an information and propaganda component.

The day before, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the involvement of the United States in the conflict between Iran and Israel would mean an additional round of escalation for the entire region. According to him, US President Donald Trump has not shared with Russia his plans for action in the situation in the Middle East.
