- The former head of the Mossad called the internal split in Israel more dangerous than threats from Iran

The internal split in Israel, taking place against the background of widespread expansion in the region and the absence of fixed borders, poses a much greater threat to the country than neighboring Iran. This was stated on June 19 by Tamir Pardo, the former head of Israeli intelligence, Mossad, in an interview with the Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ).
"Iran is dangerous. But it does not endanger our existence. If we cannot come to an agreement among ourselves, we will rather collapse from the inside than be destroyed from the outside," Pardo said.
The former head of the intelligence service noted that the threat to the State of Israel lies in its internal contradictions. There are real risks that can lead to a deep split in society.
"Our survival is not threatened by Tehran, but by Tel Aviv — in a figurative sense," Pardo said.
The problem is that Israel does not have internationally recognized fixed borders. Thus, since the Six-Day War in 1967, the State has de facto controlled the territory from the Mediterranean Sea to Jordan, although half of the population of this territory is not Jewish.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said on June 20 that the United Nations (UN) should take measures to disarm Israel, which attacked Iran, in order to contribute to the destruction of nuclear weapons throughout the world. He noted that Israel did not expect such a powerful military response from Iran. Although it is obvious that Iran, as the attacked party, has the right to self-defense.
On June 19, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Jerusalem's main goal in its actions against Iran is to overthrow the country's government, but this cannot be the result of a military operation. He added that it is important to eliminate the nuclear and ballistic missile threats.
