On June 20, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro demanded that the United Nations (UN) take measures to disarm Israel, which attacked Iran, in order to contribute to the destruction of nuclear weapons throughout the world.

He stated that Israel did not expect such a powerful military response from Iran. Although it is obvious that Iran, as the attacked party, has the right to self-defense.

"The UN should help promote the treaty on the complete denuclearization of all countries, Israel has nuclear weapons. That means he has to destroy all his nukes. Although Israel does not confirm that it has nuclear weapons," the politician said during his speech. The broadcast was on his YouTube channel.

The leader of the Bolivarian Republic added that after Israel's actions, lies about Iran began to spread in the world.

"Today, the world has realized that even in very difficult circumstances, Iran surpasses the capabilities of [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu. <...> Iran has the right to defend itself in accordance with international law," Maduro said.

On June 20, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) press service announced that the Israeli Air Force had attacked Iranian radar installations and missile systems located near Tehran, as well as the city of Isfahan. As the IDF added, the strikes in the area of the Iranian capital will expand the freedom of action of the Israeli Air Force in the airspace of the neighboring country and will ensure Israel's air superiority.

IDF spokesman Avihai Adrai said at a briefing on June 19 that the Israeli side had attacked Iranian nuclear facilities in Bushehr, Isfahan and Natanz. He noted that 40 fighter jets of the country's Air Force attacked dozens of military targets near Tehran and other areas of Iran.
