Dmitry Pekov, a spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin, warned of Moscow's negative reaction to the possible assassination of Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

"It's very negative, we will strongly condemn it," he said in an interview with Sky News.

According to the spokesman, the Iranian society is very well organized and consolidated. He also added that the US intervention in the conflict would lead to an increase in extremism within the Islamic state.

"Iranian society is very well organized and very consolidated, and [US intervention] will lead to an increase in extremism inside Iran. Besides, those who talk about it should keep in mind that they will open Pandora's box," he said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an interview on June 19 that overthrowing the Iranian government was not the main goal for Jerusalem, but it could be its result.
