Pacific Fleet ships conducted artillery firing in the waters of the Pacific Ocean

Ships of the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet) consisting of the frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov and the large anti-submarine ship Admiral Tributs conducted artillery firing at sea and air targets in the waters of the Pacific Ocean, and a tactical group of ships consisting of the corvettes Gromky and Perfectny conducted exercises in the waters of the Sea of Okhotsk. This was announced by the Russian Defense Ministry on June 20.

The ministry clarified that the crews had completed the tasks of searching for and destroying a simulated enemy submarine. Then the ship's search and attack group made the transition to the designated area and conducted a search for the enemy submarine. The Ka-27PS anti-submarine helicopter was used to carry out the tasks.

After that, the frigate and the BOD performed artillery firing on a surface target, as well as trained to destroy floating sea mines, shoot down air targets and counteract unmanned boats. It is specified that the shooting at training targets was carried out from AK-100 and A-190 artillery installations, as well as 30-millimeter AK-630 artillery installations and heavy machine guns.

The crews of the Gromky and Perfectny corvettes, together with naval aviation aircraft, completed anti-submarine tasks. The sailors also improved their practical skills in repelling attacks by means of an air attack by a simulated enemy.

The ministry stressed that from June 16 to June 30, a planned exercise is being conducted in the waters of the Pacific Ocean, the Sea of Okhotsk and the Sea of Japan under the general supervision of Admiral Viktor Liina, Commander of the Pacific Fleet. In total, up to 40 ships, boats and support vessels, over 30 aircraft and helicopters of the Pacific Fleet naval aviation, more than 5,000 military personnel and civilian specialists, as well as combat crews of coastal missile systems are involved in it.

On May 27, the press service of the Baltic Fleet reported that the Russian military had launched large-scale exercises in the Baltic with the participation of more than 20 ships, boats and support vessels. About 3,000 military personnel, up to 25 aircraft and helicopters, as well as about 70 units of military and special equipment are also involved in the exercise.
