Aeroflot will abandon the Superjet and focus on the MC-21

Aeroflot has no plans for further operation of the Superjet, Sergey Alexandrovsky, CEO of Aeroflot, told reporters at SPIEF 2025 on June 19. The same applies to Tu-214 airliners.
"We are still focusing on aircraft that best match our network of routes, optimal in terms of their size and operational characteristics," — said the head of the airline.
The main domestic airliner should be the MC-21. According to the airline, Aeroflot and Rossiya will receive about 200 MC-21s by 2033.
"If we operate on specific periods, we expect 108 MC-21 aircraft by 2030, and by 2033 we plan to increase their number to 200 aircraft," said Sergey Alexandrovsky.
Pobeda Airlines will remain with the existing fleet of Boeing 737-800 aircraft with an arrangement of 189 seats. However, it is possible that in the following years there will be a redistribution of the Boeing 737 fleet within the group as domestic MC-21 airliners enter service. Some of the released Boeing 737 aircraft may go to Pobeda.
Using one type of aircraft (MS-21) is a significant increase in efficiency in resource planning, including training and education of pilots and flight attendants, noted Sergey Alexandrovsky at SPIEF 2025. Currently, 18 firm contracts have been signed, respectively, 90 more — until 2030, he noted.
On April 29, the MC-21 prototype aircraft, equipped with Russian systems and assemblies, successfully made its first flight. It is specified that domestic avionics, power supply and air conditioning systems were tested on board. There were no comments on the operation of the equipment. The flight lasted 1 hour and 15 minutes, the aircraft reached a speed of 580 km / h and an altitude of 3 thousand meters.
