A resident of the Pskov region was convicted of murdering a newborn

In the Pskov region, a court has issued a verdict against a resident of Palkino, who was found guilty of murdering a newborn. The woman will be sent to a penal colony for 2.5 years.

According to the investigation, the defendant gave birth to the child on her own at the place of residence. Without telling anyone, she wrapped the baby in a plastic bag and put it behind a curtain on the window, and then took it to a plot on the outskirts of the village and covered it with earth. The child's death occurred as a result of asphyxia, the Pskov news feed writes.

A criminal case was initiated under Article 106 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder of a newborn child by a mother"). The woman confessed her guilt and repented. The court sentenced her to 2.5 years in prison to serve her sentence in a penal colony.

Since the defendant is the mother of three young children who are dependent on her, the execution of the sentence has been postponed until the youngest child reaches the age of 14.
