On June 19, Anton Volodkin, CEO of the online cinema Wink, told Izvestia on the sidelines of SPIEF 2025 about the upcoming media revolution and the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in creating cinema.

According to him, the industry is currently at the stage of rethinking its place in the time that a client spends watching media formats.

"Different content formats are distributed across different sources, at least each of them is rethinking and trying to understand whether it can combine some elements in itself...> what is the place of technology development in all the stories," said Wink CEO.

He said that AI is now an experimental format, a "tool" that can enhance classical computer graphics or help in writing a dialogue, but there is no talk of full—fledged scenarios.

The fastest development of artificial intelligence will affect the animation industry, where there are no such requirements for picture quality as in movies, and this will depend on how much a computer can convey human reflection, Volodkin believes.

"The main question is whether an insensitive machine can feel something and convey this feeling," he concluded.

Earlier in the day, artificial intelligence, including the fight against deepfakes, was discussed at the SPIEF. It was noted that AI is mainly beneficial for entertainment content. According to Zhou Ye, technical director of the United Shanghai Media Group, it allows you to create more content with relatively less effort.
