European countries should focus on the development of the Eurasian perspective. On June 19, political scientist Ulrike Hero told Izvestia on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025).

"Personally, I don't want Europe to be divided. I don't want NATO's new hard line to take place in the middle of the European continent. I want to develop the Eurasian perspective. And I think I'm speaking on behalf of many European citizens who also don't want this. We need civil diplomacy," Hero said.

She also added that she supports the creation of a Russian-European youth office in order to establish relations between the parties through common projects. In addition, according to her, many in Europe want a calm and friendly partnership with Russia.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on May 29 that Western countries continue to step up provocative military exercises near Russian territory. According to him, a dangerous development is taking place due to the lack of a union in Europe that could unite the regulatory framework to collectively address security issues.
