VK CEO spoke about the development of MAX in terms of payments

VK CEO Vladimir Kiriyenko on June 19 at the session "Are payments depreciating? Transformation of the Global Payment market" at SPIEF 2025 spoke about the development of the MAX digital platform in terms of payment transactions.
"We abandoned the development of our own payment systems, <...> we realized that Russia has a very well-developed fintech (financial technologies. — Ed.), and it makes no sense to develop your own system, while putting the user in such an unnatural choice," he said.
Kiriyenko stressed that a certain bank or payment system is a user's free choice, and due to the large number of customers, it is irrational to force a person to make this choice.
"We have launched the MAX platform, which is a new communication platform. Plus, added services are being built on the basis of it. <...> In a chat, when we correspond with you, you can send money to each other in a few clicks," he said.
According to the VK CEO, it makes no sense to invest in areas where the company has a strong partner base.
"We already have a wealth of experience in such partnerships, when we provide a platform, and colleagues use it themselves in the best way. And our task, we strive to create the best customer service," Kiriyenko added.
Earlier that day, Dmitry Dubynin, CEO of the National Payment Card System (NSPK), and VK CEO at SPIEF 2025 signed a cooperation agreement that involves MAX users making money transfers through the Rapid Payment System (SBP). As part of the cooperation, transfers will be tested so that MAX can be used by customers of different banks in the future.
