A resident of Ulan-Ude was sentenced for the murder of his roommate
A court in Ulan-Ude (Republic of Buryatia) sentenced a resident of the Oktyabrsky district who killed his roommate and tried to hide the traces of the crime. This is reported by the republican SU of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
The murder occurred on April 11, 2025, in an apartment in the 111th microdistrict. It was established that during the quarrel that occurred between the roommates, the man stabbed the woman in the back, then threw a rope around her neck and strangled her.
The Ulan-Ude man threw the knife from the balcony, and carried the bloodstained clothes with a garrote to the trash cans. After that, the man called the police and said that he found his roommate dead when he came home.
"The investigation managed to immediately expose the attacker. The court considered the collected evidence sufficient for sentencing," the Investigative Committee said in a statement.
UlanMedia clarifies that the court found the man guilty under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Murder" and sentenced him to eight years and six months in prison to be served in a high-security colony.
On May 31, it was reported that in Ulan-Ude, a man killed his wife in a rented apartment, after which he hid with his young daughter in another apartment, in which he committed suicide a few days later, setting a fire before his death. The child was not injured in the fire, the girl was handed over to relatives.
