- Likhachev commented on the EC's plans to limit contracts with suppliers from the Russian Federation.

Russia does not need to negotiate with the European Commission (EC) on the future limitation of new contracts with Russian suppliers. Alexey Likhachev, head of the Rosatom state Corporation, told Izvestia on June 19 on the sidelines of SPIEF 2025.
"We definitely don't need any negotiations with Euratom. We plan to do everything directly, to work with the leaders of the countries, which is also happening at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum," he said.
The Reuters news agency reported on June 17 that the European Commission had proposed a ban on imports of pipeline and liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia by the end of 2027. According to the newspaper, imports under long-term contracts will be prohibited from January 1, 2028.
