VK's Vice President of video Services spoke about the dynamics and development plans of the social network.

VK is currently implementing an expansion of the recommendation system within the service, as well as integration with the music app and general content development based on user preferences. Nikolay Duksin, Vice President for Music and Video Services at VK, told Izvestia on June 19 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025).

"We are still very deeply integrated with the social network. And this is a huge plus for us, because the recommendation system we are working on is also based on the tastes and preferences of the user. And the signal sources that we receive to enrich the monetization system are much broader than just video viewing. And this, in fact, is our main USP (unique trading offer. — Ed.)," he shared.

Duksin added that more than 350,000 pieces of content are uploaded to VK every day, so this amount of information needs to be structured into a recommendations section so that people can sort the content they like for themselves. However, he also stated that no amount of marketing or PR would help the author raise the amount of content that the social network has.

"In this sense, we are in a unique situation, such a technological one, because we can use a much wider number of signals to enrich your profile as a user in order to recommend to you really what you will be interested in. And it's a lot of work, and we're focusing on it," said VK's Vice President of Music and Video Services.

In addition, the platform engages in attracting new authors, interacts with TV channels, producers of video content, including developers of movies and TV series, as well as creating a full-fledged children's profile that allows you to safely watch children's content. For this initiative, work was carried out with pediatric neuropsychologists, which allowed us to fill out this section correctly in order to bring educational benefits to the younger generation.
