By 2030, the Skolkovo Innovation Center plans to become a factory of technological leaders. This was stated by Sergey Perov, Chairman of the Board of the Skolkovo Foundation, who presented the strategy for the development of the innovation center until 2030 during the panel discussion "Skolkovo 2.0: infrastructure for a breakthrough", held on June 19 on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Answering questions about Skolkovo's role in the new technological agenda, goals by 2030 and planned changes, Sergey Perov stressed that fifteen years ago the Skolkovo Innovation Center started in an empty area. Today it is an established ecosystem that unites more than 5,000 technology companies, almost 1 million square meters of infrastructure and an entire city where it is comfortable to work and live. According to Perov, by 2030, Skolkovo should become a factory of technological leaders — companies that will create innovative developments, produce high-tech products and play a key role in the technological development of the country.

"42.6 billion rubles is our pride. This is exactly how many extra-budgetary investments the project participants attracted in 2024. This is a vivid result of the work of our residents and proof that their developments are in demand by the market. At the beginning of last year, few people believed in this figure — then skeptics did not predict even half. Today, this is our common victory — the products that are created with our support," said the Chairman of the Board of the Skolkovo Foundation.

According to Perov, Skolkovo plans to grow at least 20 technology leaders over the next five years, including at least five whose leadership will be based on Skoltech's developments. In addition, it is planned to create conditions for the development of 6.7 thousand small technology companies, increase the total annual revenue of small technology companies to 1 trillion rubles and attract 335 billion rubles of investments in projects of Skolkovo participants.

Personnel training plays an important role in the strategy, Perov added. By 2030, at least 80,000 jobs will be created at Skolkovo, while the ecosystem will provide annual training for thousands of qualified engineers and 350 Skoltech students.

Large-scale infrastructure development also remains among the priorities of the innovation center. It is planned to increase the area of facilities on the territory of Skolkovo to 2.8 million square meters. Among the key projects are the construction of new technology parks, R&D centers, educational and cultural facilities, and the creation of its own technological development lines that will allow the production of domestic high—tech products.

In order to achieve technological leadership, new areas with the participation of VEB.RF are also being added to the efforts of the relevant development institutes of the Federal Development Fund, Skolkovo, FSI, RFRIT. The group's new strategy until 2030 provides for cooperation support for the organization of production facilities on its own development lines, the formation of holdings in strategic industries with high export potential, and increased efficiency of industrial enterprises through the implementation of programs to increase labor productivity, digitalization, and robotics.

Sergey Perov also stressed that Skolkovo is actively integrating into the Moscow economy: almost 60% of the fund's projects are implemented with the participation of Moscow companies, and the capital's support measures are available to all participants of the cluster.

"Skolkovo has gone from an idea to a powerful innovation ecosystem. Today, our goal is not just to remain a startup factory, but to become a factory of technological leaders capable of influencing the development of the country's economy," the speaker emphasized.

The discussion was also attended by Kristina Kostroma, Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development of Moscow, Vikram Punia, President of Pharmasynthesis Group, Anjey Zhimbiev, General Director of Rapid Bio LLC, and Vyacheslav Shulenin, General Director of the Moscow Center for Innovative Technologies in Healthcare.
