Moldova has lost its neutrality under the current government. This was announced on June 19 by the leader of the Party of Socialists and former President of the Republic Igor Dodon to Izvestia on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025).

"According to the constitution, Moldova is a neutral country. Unfortunately, Moldova has lost its de facto neutrality. Both economic and military. Economically, because we joined the anti—Russian sanctions," Dodon said.

According to him, now in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the country is playing a rather significant role on the side of the Kiev regime, and this is absolutely wrong.

"Moldova has been and is passing through its territory military supplies for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). They don't talk about it publicly, but when closed trains pass through the Moldovan-Romanian border, without checking, I think there is neither corn nor wheat," he stressed.

He also added that his party opposes the fact that military exercises of NATO countries are held on the territory of the republic, since Moldova is a neutral country.

On May 27, Dodon said that the actions of Moldovan President Maia Sandu are aimed at splitting Moldovan society and radicalizing it before the parliamentary elections to be held in September.

Prior to that, Dodon said that the next government in Moldova should return to direct negotiations with Russia. In addition, he noted that the Moldovan authorities should return to dialogue with Pridnestrovie and supply gas in the required volumes without hindrance.
