Hungary intends to continue its mission to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, which it began in 2024. Peter Szijjarto, the country's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, told the Izvestia correspondent on June 19 on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025).

"Of course, [we will continue] because we live next door and we want peace in Ukraine. We have had a very consistent position for the last three and a half years. We constantly advocate for a cease-fire and peace talks. And those who previously criticized us for this are now saying the same thing," he said.

On the same day, Szijjarto announced the need to immediately begin negotiations on a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, it is necessary to establish a ceasefire before holding them.
