It is important to involve young people in labor relations as soon as possible and increase the flexibility of work, as this will give citizens the opportunity to earn more. Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, told Izvestia about this on June 19 on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025).

"Such a good tool is to involve young people in labor relations as soon as possible, to involve the older generation and increase the flexibility of work," said Reshetnikov.

He also informed about the upcoming draft law, which will make overtime regulation more flexible.

"We have developed a draft law that we have been discussing with the trade unions for a long time, and we have more or less agreed upon it. There are still questions from the administration. I hope that we will put the squeeze on it and submit it to the State Duma, because it allows us to work with overtime a little more flexibly, this will give people the opportunity to earn more," the minister explained.

Reshetnikov stressed that the current restrictions on overtime are outdated.

"We stand between people and their ability to make money. We say, no, just work that much, 120 hours overtime, you can't do it anymore. If he wants to refine it, he can't. This is an atavism from Soviet times, but unfortunately, there is a group that holds on to them very strongly. This must be overcome," he said.

In addition, the minister noted the importance of developing a platform economy and increasing labor productivity in various industries.

"A platform economy that works on labor productivity, it is necessary to focus on labor productivity in industries. We are currently implementing productivity improvement programs with each industry," Reshetnikov summed up.

On January 31, it became known that the Ministry of Labor has prepared a bill that introduces in 2025 a monthly payment of 72.4 thousand rubles for women awarded the title of "Mother Heroine." So, according to the document, last year the monthly cash payment was 66.1 thousand rubles. In 2025, 72.4 thousand rubles will be paid to women, in 2026 — 75.6 thousand rubles, in 2027 — 78.6 thousand rubles.
