- Reshetnikov announced the continuation of the decline in inflation in the Russian Federation
Inflation continues to decline: the June data will be even lower, and in three months the annual average reached 4.5%. Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, told Izvestia about this on June 19 on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025).
"If we take the current two months, we are saying that inflation has decreased. Let's calculate the average inflation for three months, it will be 4.5%, we have reached this level. Therefore, it is necessary to focus [on this level] and take it into account, and based on this, make all decisions," said Reshetnikov.
According to him, annual inflation is forecast to be 6-7%, but it is expected to decrease further.
The minister noted that the agency expects a further slowdown in price growth, but the exact figures will be revised in July–August, taking into account external factors, including the geopolitical situation.
In addition, he indicated that the final forecast for inflation, economic growth and other indicators will be presented closer to autumn, before the adoption of the budget.
"Therefore, we will, of course, delay the forecast and the adoption of the budget in order to obtain [the data] as accurately as possible. But anyway, we will come out with this forecast in July and August. And of course, inflation will be strongly revised, just like economic growth and development indicators," Reshetnikov summed up.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on May 26 that the Russian economy is developing at a good pace, with growth of 4.3% over the past year. According to him, the positive dynamics is associated with key areas: industry, agriculture, digital technologies, services and finance. He also called the merit of business the fourth place of the Russian Federation in the world economic ranking in terms of purchasing power parity.
