Negotiations on a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine should begin immediately. This was announced on June 19 by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Peter Szijjarto on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025).

"I believe that peace negotiations should be started immediately. And during the peace talks, I think a variety of issues will be put on the agenda," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Szijjarto also believes that a ceasefire must be established before holding peace talks. He noted that Russia has repeatedly stated its readiness to continue dialogue with Ukraine.

Earlier, on June 19, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in the Izvestia studio at SPIEF 2025, said that the topic of the third round of negotiations with Ukraine could be the continuation of humanitarian exchanges, including prisoners. In addition, the parties will have to exchange views on the submitted memoranda on a peaceful settlement, he noted.
