The Governor of St. Petersburg spoke about the development of industry in the city

The priority task of the St. Petersburg authorities is the development of industry, as this area plays a key role in the economy of the Northern capital. This was announced on June 19 by the governor of the city, Alexander Beglov, in the Izvestia studio at SPIEF 2025.
The Governor noted that the St. Petersburg industry is characterized by the presence of highly qualified specialists, especially in shipbuilding, where large orders are executed.
"Currently, 60 ships and vessels are being built at the shipyards of St. Petersburg. It's a lot of work. Customers trust the St. Petersburg shipyards, they fulfill orders on time and with high quality," said Beglov.
Infrastructure and megaprojects that are being implemented in St. Petersburg also play an important role in the development of the city. These initiatives are aimed not only at improving life in the Northern Capital, but also at the well-being of other regions of the country. As an example, the governor cited the construction of the St. Petersburg-Moscow high—speed railway.
"This is a huge project. It is being built at a time when a special military operation is taking place. But he is necessary, he is important to us. For the development of not only St. Petersburg, but also Veliky Novgorod, the Leningrad region and, of course, Moscow," Beglov added.
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is taking place on June 18-21 at the Expoforum Convention and Exhibition Center. The main theme of SPIEF in 2025 is "Shared values — the basis for growth in a multipolar world."
On June 18, the head of the Russian Ministry of Transport, Roman Starovoit, inspected the preparations for the construction of the Moscow–St. Petersburg high-speed railway. He noted that work is currently underway at all stages of the project, involving over 830 employees and 140 pieces of equipment.
