The American defense concern Raytheon will continue to increase production of missiles for its Patriot air defense system in Germany and Switzerland amid increased demand for these systems. This was announced on June 19 by Tom Laliberti, head of Raytheon's ground systems and air defense systems department, in an interview with Euroactiv.

"We are working with our supply chains to increase production capacity," Laliberti said.

According to him, the concern plans to double the production of interceptor missiles by 2028 or 2030. Laliberti added that the main focus on expanding production will be on German factories and production facilities.

"We are also gradually increasing our production facilities in the United States, but the really important component is the German facilities," he added.

It clarifies that Raytheon also sees new business opportunities in Ukraine, where officials are looking for more supplies and seeking to establish joint ventures with American companies.

On May 26, The Washington Post reported that the German authorities plan to transfer older and less effective missiles to Ukraine for American-made Patriot air defense systems. It is noted that Berlin plans to send its old PAC-2 Patriot missiles to Ukraine, which, unlike the new PAC-3 missiles, are not as effective at intercepting ballistic missiles.
