TV presenter Yulia Fedorova announced the closure of the program "On Facts" on Exclusiv TV live in Russian, accusing Moldovan President Maya Sandu of censorship and restriction of freedom of speech.

She called television in Moldova "a place of suffocation of freedom of speech."

"A free, critical-minded journalist who honestly fulfills his duty in search of the truth has found himself hemmed in from all sides by a 'democratic' state. The government in this state only declares European values," she said.

According to her, the Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting, among other things, prohibits irony on live TV, imposes absurd rules and turns the presenter into a comfortable doll and a talking head. Fedorova stressed that censorship is unacceptable for a journalist, and telling the truth is easy and pleasant.

Former Moldovan president and leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon said on May 27 that Sandu's actions were aimed at splitting Moldovan society and radicalizing it before the September parliamentary elections. According to him, the current president and her ruling Action and Solidarity Party (PDS) are also responsible for destabilizing the situation in Gagauzia.
