Megafon and Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) have agreed to create a digital coal warehouse for coke and chemical production as part of SPIEF 2025. The project optimizes the quality management of raw materials used for iron smelting and will reduce the specific consumption of coal charge by about 25%.

"In the current conditions, digitalization of production processes is becoming a real tool for improving the efficiency of enterprises," said Khachatur Pombukhchan, CEO of Megafon. He added that this is not the first joint project with MMK. Previously, the operator participated in the construction of a private corporate network, the creation of a digital twin of an iron ore warehouse, as well as the automation of inspection and certification of metal products.

The launch of the first stage of the digital coal warehouse into commercial operation is scheduled for early 2026. At the first stage, the operator will deploy a control and accounting system for incoming raw materials and integrate it with existing production solutions.

"The digital coal warehouse project will be the next step in optimizing production processes at the enterprise," Pombukhchan believes.

According to Pavel Shilyaev, General Director of MMK, digital control of technological processes, minimizing the influence of the human factor and improving product quality are the company's priorities.

"MMK consistently implements advanced digital solutions to improve production efficiency," the head of MMK emphasized.

Megafon also announced plans to expand the territory of MMK's private corporate network, Private LTE. The network operates on the basis of the package core of the domestic Protey development.
