- The Security Council noted the intensification of cyber attacks by the West and Ukraine against the Russian Federation and the CSTO

The special services of Ukraine and the West have stepped up cyber attacks against Russia and the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). This was announced on June 19 by Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Alexei Shevtsov during a meeting of the Committee of Secretaries of the CSTO Security Councils.
"The expansion of computer crime in Russia is largely due to the increased activity of the Ukrainian special services. In particular, under the supervision of the Security Service of Ukraine and with the participation of Western specialists, more than 1,000 call centers dealing with extortion of money have been established on Ukrainian territory," TASS quoted him as saying.
According to Shevtsov, call centers are starting to act more actively against other countries, including the CSTO states. He also noted that under the supervision of Western intelligence agencies, cyber centers operate in Germany, England, Finland, Estonia and Latvia.
In addition, the Deputy Secretary of the Security Council clarified that the number of computer crimes in 2024 increased by 13%, exceeding 765 thousand. It clarifies that, in particular, cyber attacks were aimed at fraudulent actions against Russians and the creation of channels for the distribution of narcotic substances.
On May 29, British Defense Minister John Healey announced plans to step up cyber attacks against Russia and China. According to him, future conflicts will be won by forces that are better connected and innovate faster.
