A bill will be submitted to the State Duma providing for penalties for organizing fake accidents in order to extort money for the damage caused. This was announced on June 19 by Yaroslav Nilov, head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs (LDPR).

According to him, the current penalties for fraud on the roads are not effective and they need to be improved. He noted that it is necessary to single out the deliberate creation of an accident for the purpose of extortion as an independent type of crime.

"Even if they are exposed, they are judged according to the usual "fraudulent article" — and this despite the fact that the actions of car dealers involve extortion, direct threats, deliberate traffic violations and damage to the victims' cars," Nilov said in his Telegram channel.

A day earlier, the leader of the Fair Russia – For Truth faction, Sergei Mironov, told Izvestia that he would send an appeal to the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Mishustin, with a proposal to introduce a ban on the operation of pit bikes on the roads by minors in traffic regulations.
