Russia is ready to ensure Iran's interests in the field of peaceful nuclear energy by ensuring their interests in this area. This was announced on June 18 by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with the heads of international news agencies on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

"The level of trust between our countries is quite high. We have very good relations with Iran. We could continue this work and ensure their interests in this area," he said.

Putin stressed that these details had been discussed with the Israeli and American sides, and the Russian Federation had also given certain signals to Iran. In his opinion, it is possible to ensure Iran's interests in the field of peaceful nuclear energy and at the same time withdraw Israel's obligations regarding its security.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at SPIEF 2025 on June 18 that Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities pose a threat to the entire world. Zakharova recalled the accident at the Fukushima nuclear power plant, the consequences of which Japan has not been able to completely eliminate for many years, noting the man-made causes of the disaster.
