Russian goaltender of the Florida Panthers hockey club Sergey Bobrovsky took third place in the voting for the Conn Smythe Trophy award for the most valuable player of the National Hockey League (NHL) playoffs. This was announced on June 18 by the official website of the Association of Professional Hockey Journalists.
"With a brilliant percentage of deflected shots, Sergey Bobrovsky took third place in the voting," the publication says.
Out of 18 journalists, ten people ranked the Russian goalkeeper in third place. Sam Bennett, another Florida player, eventually took the top spot on the list.
On June 18, Florida defeated Edmonton and won the Stanley Cup for the second time. It is noted that "Florida" won 5-1 in the sixth match of the final series of the playoffs.
