The Golovinsky District Court of Moscow fully agreed with the position of the state prosecutor and sentenced the maniac Vladimir Mirgorod to life imprisonment in a special regime colony. This was reported on June 18 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

Mirgorod was found guilty of murdering 15 women and one man (paragraphs "a, k" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), as well as attempted murder of a woman involving rape and sexual violence.

At the end of 2004, Mirgorod was arrested for rape and robbery, and in January 2005 he was sentenced to six years in prison. In July 2010, the criminal was released from prison, but in October he was arrested again after he told casual acquaintances while drinking alcohol about the murders. On January 30, 2012, the murderer was sentenced to life imprisonment.

On August 23, 2024, the criminal was charged with five more counts of murder. It is noted that following the results of the molecular genetic examinations, the involvement of Mirgorod in the commission of these crimes was established. During the interrogation, he admitted his guilt.

On March 31, 2025, investigators completed the investigation of the maniac strangler. It is noted that he confirmed his involvement in the murders and spoke in detail about their commission.
