- The General Director of VTsIOM noted the focus of the youth of the Russian Federation on the future

Young people in Russia are increasingly thinking about the future on a global and even cosmic scale. This was announced on June 18 by the Director General of the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM). Valery Fedorov at the session "Everything flows, everything changes: New Consumption Trends" at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025).
"We conducted a small survey here and found out that when it's not about your personal future, about the future of your family, it's the youngest generation, the one we call the digital generation, who thinks most about the future on a global, maybe even cosmic scale. This is the year of birth 2001 and later," he said.
He stressed that young people, compared with older generations, are ready to think about the future of the planet as a whole. Fedorov also noted that the level of social optimism in Russia has increased due to the ability of the Russian Federation to develop in the most difficult conditions.
"Today, I repeat, there is much less fear of the future than before. And, of course, this is due to the fact that we persevered. By the fact that we disavowed the scenario of the "abolition" of Russia. By the fact that we have proved our ability not only to survive, but to move forward in the most difficult conditions in which we find ourselves," said the General Director of VTsIOM.
According to him, this indicates that the population is ready to talk about the future and make plans. Fedorov added that the Russian population has learned and continues to learn financial literacy and cybersecurity in recent years, and now they have to learn how to dream and think about the future.
On June 2, Izvestia reviewed a study of the Work service.ru". It said that among the Russians surveyed, the majority (76%) named decent earnings among the main sources of happiness. In addition, 14% of respondents rated their happiness at 1 out of 5, 13% chose level 2, 36% rated 3, 27% settled on level 4, and one in 10 Russians (10%) chose the highest rating of 5.
