Canada is "running ahead of the cart", demonstrating how far it is ready to go in terms of sanctions, besides, they are unjustified. This was stated on June 18 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov to journalist Pavel Zarubin, the video was posted on his Telegram channel.

"The Canadians are trying to run ahead of the cart in many ways and demonstrate in every possible way how zealously, so to speak, they are ready to continue the sanctions policy," Peskov said.

According to him, Russia, despite the sanctions pressure, was able to adapt and even benefit from this situation in terms of economic development.

Peskov also added that the sanctions against a number of Russians are unjustified and illegal.

On June 18, Canada imposed sanctions against Lyudmila Ocheretnaya, the former wife of Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Tatiana Yumasheva, Boris Yeltsin's daughter. The sanctions list also includes businessman Natalia Kaspersky, as well as former Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl.
