The expert explained whether it is worth going to college after the ninth grade

Every ninth grader faces an important choice: continue their studies at school, moving to the 10th grade, or enroll in college for secondary vocational education. Elena Provozen, head of the educational and methodological department of the MAXITET IT College, told Izvestia on June 21 about how to decide on a future profession.

"If we talk about practical recommendations for choosing a college, then college becomes the best option for those who have already decided on an applied specialty and want to start their professional career as soon as possible. For example, for future chefs, car mechanics, nurses, programmers or designers, secondary vocational education allows them to acquire all the necessary skills in two to four years and start working in their specialty," the expert said.

Nevertheless, higher education remains mandatory for a career in high-tech industries. According to the expert, in such cases it is worth staying in grades 10-11 in order to prepare well for the Unified State Exam and admission to the university. It is also important to remember that some professions require not only higher education, but also further postgraduate or residency training.

Karen added that if a student doubts his choice, it is better to stay in school and try himself in various fields through internships and courses.

On June 9, Alexander Khvostov, Director of Relations with the educational community at MAXIMUM Education, told Izvestia that the admission campaign in 2025 was following updated rules. According to him, you can apply to universities (if you do not need to take additional entrance tests) by July 25. However, for applicants to specialties where there are creative, professional or specialized tests, the deadline is July 20.
